Place of Peace

Gumare or Gomare is a rural village located in the North-West District of Botswana, near the Okavango Delta. The center was built by Naledi and friends, and has run full time since 2015, caring for around 40 children per year.

Like the other centers, the objects of Place of Peace are to provide:

• skills training
• pre-school education
• recreational services to the children to reduce the risk of them roaming the streets
• a reading place including materials for them, especially books and literature on character building and other education subjects
• meals on a daily basis and clothing and toiletries as needed to vulnerable children
• a counselling services for vulnerable children
• a link between the children, guardians, social welfare and community organizations providing support to HIV/AIDS affected groups
• information, educational and spiritual support to vulnerable children and their guardians
